Abstract

376,491. Liquid fuel furnaces. METALLGES-AKT.-GES., 45, Bockenheimer Anlage, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. July 2, 1931, No. 19131. Convention date, July 12, 1930. [Class 51 (i).] Substances of low combustibility such as asphaltum, tar, acid-resin, pitch, masut or the like are burnt in a rotary furnace having a gasification zone and adjacent thereto a combustion zone furnishing heat to effect the gasification. The Figure shows the rotary furnace having a gasification zone 1, main combustion zone 2, and secondary combustion zone 3. The combustion zones are provided with agitating devices 7, 8 and air-supply nozzles 9. A scraper 6 is provided to remove coke from the gasification zone 1 to the zone 2. A chamber 10 with a grate 11 is provided at the end of the rotary furnace for the combustion of unconsumed gases and burning coke that remains unconsumed.
