[Class 83 (i).] The metal in the mould of a centrifugal casting-machine is heated by induced electric currents in order to prevent premature solidification. The vessel in which the metal is melted can be used as the mould, or the metal can be melted separately and poured into a mould surrounded by an induction coil ; the coil also can be used to melt the metal, the crucible containing which is arranged over the mould and within the induction coil.
