Abstract
362,333. Moulds. BORNAND, E., 112, Route de Florissant, and SCHLAEPFER, H. A., 13, Rue Verdaine, both in Geneva, Switzerland. July 13, 1931, No. 20044. Convention date, July 16, 1930. [Class 83 (i).] Mould materials.-A mould for casting ingots, rollers, &c. has a part at least, of its wall made of magnesia or similar material, which only conducts electricity freely when heated, and connected to an electriccurrent supply. The wall sections 5, 6, 7, Fig. 3, and the hot top 9, Fig. 4, are of magnesia and have embedded carbon rods 3 connected by a single terminal to one pole of the supply, the other pole being connected to the molten metal. The wall sections may be preheated if desired. Casting-processes.-The current in the sections 5, 6, 7 may be cut off in succession to regulate the cooling.
