Abstract
374,028. Braking-mechanism for printing-machines. ROCKSTROH, W., of Rockstroh-Werke Akt.-Ges., Dresden, Germany. Feb. 27, 1931, No. 6158. [Class 100 (ii).] In braking-mechanism for high-speed printing-machines wherein brakes are applied substantially simultaneously to the flywheel and the impression cylinder, the link mechanism is arranged so that an applied pressure is distributed in definite predetermined proportions to the two brakes, and adjustment of both brakes to compensate for wear need only be effected at one point in the linkage. An operating-rod c carries an eccentric disc d which engages an adjustment screw e on a lever f. The lever f is connected at a pivot m to the flywheel brake lever g which is pivotally mounted on a rigid rotatable brake shaft o. The lever f is also connected at a pivot n to a rod h which acts on the brake lever l of the impression cylinder brake b through a bell-crank lever i, pivoted at r, and a connecting-rod k. When the operating-rod c is rotated the eccentric disc d moves the lever f about the pivot m to actuate the brake lever l ; this movement is arrested as soon as the brake b is applied and thereafter the pivot n constitutes the fulcrum for the lever f during its continued movement to the left, and consequently the brake lever g is swung about the shaft o to actuate the flywheel brake a. The pressure applied to each brake may be varied by altering the leverage about the pivot points m, n. The lever f may be operated by the piston of a hydraulic or a pneumatic appliance.
