747,974. Disc brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. Oct. 20, 1953 [Nov. 11, 1952], No. 29009/53. Divided out of 747,965. Class 103 (1). The invention concerns hand brake mechanism for disc brakes and relates particularly to a construction suitable for operation in conjunction with fluid pressure actuating mechanism such as that described in Specification 747,965. The mechanism comprises a pair of substantially triangular plates 25, positioned opposite one another on each side of the disc 28 with the apex of each plate extending beyond the outer periphery of the disc. The plates pivot at their inner ends about pins 27 secured to the fluidpressure cylinder calipers 26 and are closed together by screw and nut mechanism operated by link 34 pivoted to an arm 33 to engage friction pads 35 with the disc. A further construction of mechanically operated brake mechanism is described which is not disposed in combination with fluid - pressure operating mechanism.
