Abstract
691,325. Internal shoe-drum brakes. TEVES, A., TEVES, H., and TEVES, E. A., [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMMANDIT-GES., A.]. Sept. 29, 1950 [Sept. 29, 1949], No. 23913/50. Class 103 (i). A hydraulic internal-shoe drum brake is provided with an auxiliary manual actuator comprising a lever 19 pivotally connected at one end to one of the shoes 4, the other end being connected to a hand actuator mechanism, and abutting intermediate its ends against an extension 13 of one of the hydraulic pistons 11 in the cylinder 8, the pistons normally abutting so that movement of the lever 19 by the hand actuator acts directly on the other piston 5 and thereby on the other brake shoe 3, the pistons abutting end caps 9, 16 slidably mounted at each end of the cylinder 8 and engaging the shoes 3, 4. The end of the extension 13 is slotted for engagement with the web of the shoe 4, the end surfaces bearing against the curved intermediate portion 20 of the lever 19, Adjustment of the auxiliary hand-actuating mechanism is effected by a screw 27 carried by one of the end caps of the lower hydraulic cylinder 25.
