702,141. Internal shoe-drum brakes. TEVES, A., TEVES, H., and TEVES, E. A., [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMMANDIT-GES., A.]. Sept. 22, 1950 [Sept. 23, 1949], No. 23315/50. Class 103(1) In an internal shoe-drum brake of the servo type wherein an actuator, such as a double acting hy draulic cylinder 2, acts uniformly on both shoe! the free ends of which slidably abut a movable transmission member, such as the lever 9, arranged on the brake anchor plate, and the servo force exerted by one brake shoe through the transmission member is resisted by resilient means acting to automatically centre the shoes, the resilient means comprise one or more compression springs 13. As shown in Fig. 1, the springs 13 are mounted between collars on bolts 12 pivoted on the lever 9 which is itself pivoted to the anchor plate by a bolt 8, the inner collars bearing against shoulders 14 rigid with the brake shield when force is transmitted from one shoe to another. In another arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the transmission member is in the form of a push rod 20, a collar 23 on which bears against compression springs 24 and 25 on either side within a rigid housing 19. In a further arrangement described the housing contains a single compression spring only.
