[Class 20 (ii).] Yielding mine tubbing comprises rolled sections or tubes with wood, springs, or other elastic element interposed, the ends of the sections being connected by flat extensions and butt straps, bolts or like connecting means being dispensed with. Fig. 1 shows the employment of I-beams, the web being removed at the end of one section and the flanges 2 overlapped ; angles 5 are provided to give bearing area for a wood insert 4. Removable clips 3 facilitate assembly. In modifications, square or round tubes replace the I-beams, one end of each tube being split to overlap an adjacent tube ; the tubes may be filled with cement &c. The I-beams 12 shown in Fig. 6, have the ends of the web removed and one flange 13 of each beam bent to embrace the wood insertion 14.
