Abstract

273,982. Moll, W., and Moll, W., (trading as Moll S÷hne, F. W.). Jan. 29, 1927. Shoring.-Door-post timbering for mine galleries or headways is supported by a polygonal framework within the timbering or replaced by a polygonal structure of sectional iron stanchions with resilient packing disposed between caps on the ends of the members of each framework. The door-post frame 5, Fig. 1. is supported by an internal polygonal framework 16 with resilient packing 14, between the ends of the members, this packing being supported in open tubular members 12 having other open tubular members to grip the main timbers 16. The inner members abut on to the tubes 12 and cause compression of the tubular members of the packing. The tubular abutting portions may have flanges whereby they are secured to the main timbers or they may be integral with the ends of the abutting members. The main members may be replaced by sectionaliron stanchion members 24, Fig. 6, with resilient packing 14 between them. To allow the packing to be renewed or the framework removed an adjustable screw member 18 is clamped to two of the meeting members so that the distance between their ends may be temporarily adjusted. In a modification, removable ends 30 are provided in the side members to support the roof member and resilient packing 14<b> abutting against stops 32 on the roof member is used between the heads of the side members and the roof member.
