Abstract

489,218. Hatch covers. MAcGREGOR, J. July 13, 1937, No. 20848/36. [Class 113 (i)] The joint between adjoining faces of two steel hatch covers is formed by a bar 3 on one section having an upturned flange 4 engaging a resilient packing 6 on the other section. Compression of this packing is limited by the projection 7 resting on the bar 3. The two sections are clamped together at their sides by a clamp 10 gripping wedge ribs 11, the two sections being so positioned as to leave a gutter 13 open at its ends. Cleats 8 limit relative vertical movement but provide no lateral restraint. Specification 463,404 is referred to.
