Abstract

193,088. Mayrow, J. J. Oct. 14, 1921. Joints.-Thin metal structural members l, m, Fig. 2, of road and rail vehicle bodies, and formed of one or more corrugated channel-like portions, are connected together at an angle by two jointplates a, f, shown enlarged in Fig. 1. The corrugations b of the part a fit into the corrugations of the vertical member l, and the corrugations of its side flanges d fit into the corrugations of the horizontal member m, a back extension e being riveted to one side of the member m. The other joint-plate f is corrugated at q and has flanges k, h which are secured respectively to the lower flange of the member m and to the flanges c of the part a of the joint through the flanges of the member l, thus holding the members together. A pair of plates for use when the horizontal structural member has a closed section such as that shown in Fig. 8 is also described.
