Abstract

418,122. Mine linings. RICHARDS, F., Glanaraeth, Baglan Road, Port Talbot, Glamorgan. May 29, 1934, No. 16048. [Class 85.] Mine arch-supports are connected by longitudinal strut members each of which is rigidly fixed at one end to an already erected arch-support and adapted to be used as a cantilever during the erection of the further support. The strut members 31, Fig. 6, are formed of plates, plain or corrugated, or of bars or tubes, and have turned down edges or ends 33 to lie between the flanges 15,-16, of the arch support member and alongside the web thereof, and to be rigidly secured to the arch members. They may be bolted or riveted, or secured by a clamp 37 and wedge 40, Fig. 8. The strut members may comprise bulbous bars, flat or curved in cross section, as shown in Fig. 3, and they may be cambered lengthwise.
