Abstract
368,185. Pressure-relieving devices. WENDTLAND, H., 11, Papenstrasse, Altona, Elbe, Germany. March 13, 1931, No. 20570. Divided on 368,074. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 18, 1931.] [Class 135.], A water seal for acetylene generators comprises a container a for the water and an empty container g of approximately equal volume connected to the container a by a pipe f. Gas from the generator is delivered through a pipe h fitted with a float valve i, and passes through the pipe f and, if desired, a non-return valve e to the outlet c. The container a is provided with a diaphragm d rupturable by excess pressure. The purpose of the valve i is to close the pipe h if aback flow of gas forces sufficient water into the container g. A modified construction is described in which the pipe h does not extend into the container g, and the valve i is omitted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a further modification in which the container g is arranged above the container a. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
