Regulating head of liquid directly. - A vessel A is divided by a partition j into a water tank l and a gas container g into which water from the tank l passes by a pipe m. Secured to the exterior of the gas container g is a feed-regulator f baving a passage h through which water from the container g passes into the regulator f and thence passes through a branch d of a pipe b controlled by a cock c to a gas generator a containing a charge of carbide. The upper end of the pipe b opens into the upper portion of the feed-regulator f, and the portion of the pipe b below the branch d serves to convey both water to the generator a and gas to the regulator f, which gas passes either through a delivery pipe k or through the passage h into the container g. In case of shortage of the generated gas, gas from the container g passes through a siphon i into the regulator f and thence to the delivery pipe k.
