Regulating head of liquid directly.-An acetylene or like generator comprises a gasometer or the like a, a water tank b associated therewith and divided by a partition c into two chambers communicating by a pipe! d, and a vessel also formed of two chambers f, g, into the former of which the pipe d opens and the latter enclosing a carbide container i and constituting the generating-chamber; water flows to the carbide through a. small aperture l in the container i, and the gas escapes to the pipe d through an a perture h connecting the chambers f, g and at a slightly higher level than the aperture l. The lower compartment of the vessel b contains liquid into which the pipe d dips, and gas is led off from this chamber tc the gasometer through a pipe m. The carbide container i is provided with a handle k pivoted to its base and adapted to embrace the chamber g.
