The carbide-holder l is carried by the cover h and is enclosed in a water-sealed tube r from which gas escapes through a non-return valve i. The gas-bell is guided by a central tube c in which the up-standing outlet pipe c works. The vertical outlet pipe k<1> is provided with an extension q working in a stuffing-box r so that the burner may be adjusted in height.
