Abstract

110,102. Margreth, J. March 19, 1917. Regulating head of liquid directly; solid in separate charges in generator.-A gasbell b in which is fitted a generator c is adapted normally to rest on the base of the tank a, and to float only when excessive production of gas takes place. The feed of water to the generator is independent of the movement of the gas-bell. The generator c, supported by a bar c<1> in the bell b, comprises a series of trays f, and has a water inlet d behind a partition e which leads the water to the bottom. The accumulation of gas in the bell b causes the level of water to be forced below the inlet d before the bell floats. The upper part of the generator projects into a domed extension b<1> of the bell to prevent water passing over the upper edge. The generator may be fitted into a second bell either rigidly connected with the gas-bell b at the upper end by a pipe union, or sliding into an open ended tube supported in the cover of the gas-bell. The inner bell may be surrounded by a second bell which receives after-make of gas and passes it into the main gas-bell.
