Abstract
341,203. Aerating liquids. SUGDEN, G. F., Sunny Bank, Marple Bridge, Derby. Nov. 22, 1929, No. 35740. [Class 14 (i).] A cylindrical vessel 4 is secured between endplates 2, 3 by tension rods 5. A rotary multi-way valve 22 controls the movement of the liquid and the venting of the vessel, while a separate valve 19 controls the admission of gas. Normally the handles 30, 31 of the valves are vertical. If the handle 30 is turned water enters by a pipe 32 and air escapes by the pipe 37 and through passages 29 in the valve 22 to the outlet 38. When the desired amount of water has entered the handle 30 is raised and the handle 31 depressed. Gas then passes along pipes 17, 12 to a distributer 14, the pressure being registered by a gauge 10. When the liquid is sufficiently aerated the lever 31 is raised and the lever 30 turned until a valve port is opened to discharge the liquid through a nozzle 36 while excess of gas is vented through the pipes 37, 38. A spring-controlled plunger in the nozzle, which is constructed as described in Specification 212,621, [Class 135, Valves &c.], retards the flow until the pressure has fallen suitably.
