The cover is provided with a sealing strip, or with a ring 0, Fig. 4, under internal air and/or gas pressure; the gas generated in the liquid stored may be led to the sealing ring through a pipe S provided with a relief valve U. The downward movement of the cover is limited bv wires I attached to the shell A and the top of a central stanchion J. Rainwater is drained from the cover by flexible pipes V or by pipes Q with sealing buckets Q<1>.
