Abstract

367,636. Axle-boxes. LEONARD, N., Feignies, Nord, France. May 1, 1931, No. 12959. Convention date, Sept. 22, 1930. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (ii).] In a railwayvehicle axle-box, excessive lift of the box with respect to the axle is prevented by the arrangement below the journal 2 of a stop member 10 pivoted about an axis at right-angles to the journal so as to be capable of being tilted into a horiz o n t a l position. The member 10 is pivoted about a pin 9 mounted in a part 8 of a partitioned member 6 removably mounted in the box, the member 6 serving to prevent surging of the oil and to clarify the latter. The member 10 is adapted to be maintained vertical by balls 15 arranged in a hole therein and pressed by a spring 16 into recesses in the member.
