Abstract
367,224. Transformers. HOLSLAG, C. J., 380, Irving Place, South Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A. April 2, 1931, No. 10080. [Class 38 (ii).] Relates to transformers for arc welding, cutting, &c., in which a part 11 of the secondary is arranged on the same core limb as the primary 8, and consists in providing at least two additional secondary parts 19, 29 on separate core limbs, each connected in series with the main secondary and adapted to be connected to separate electrodes 26, 27. Steadying windings 24, 28 and inductances 16, 30 may be provided in each secondary circuit. Fig. 3 shows a modified arrangement in which the outer core limbs are divided into branches 31, 32 so that four auxiliary secondaries may be provided for feeding four electrodes. The yokes and core limbs carrying the auxiliary secondaries are made of reduced cross section and/or of low permeability material as compared with the limb carrying the main secondary. The main secondary may be arranged within the primary 8 or may be interleaved therewith, Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown). Tappings for regulating may be provided on the various windings as indicated.
