Abstract

366,759. Imitation fires. PHILLIPS, Ltd., A. and PHILLIPS, L., Eyre Street, Spring Hill, Birmingham. March 7, 1931, No. 7127. [Class 126.] The flicker device of an electric imitation coal fire comprises two or more fans or spinners 17 arranged in the same plane above a lamp 13 and rotated in the same direction by the convection currents from it. The fire shown comprises a boxlike casing 7a with a removable back 7d, in which is fixed a plate 10 bent to form a horizontal shelf 10a carrying the lamp holder and supporting two vertical rods 15, to the upper ends of which are secured the fan pivots 15c. A screen 14 mounted on the rods 15 surrounds the lamp on three sides. Bent strips 16 secured to the rods 15 are formed with apertured ends extending over and in proximity to the conical bosses 17a of the fans. Heating elements may be provided at the front of the casing 7a or adjacent the base of the canopy.
