[Class 146 (iii).] In a blotting-appliance of the kind wherein a blotting- roller is divided into hingedly connected halves i, k between the free edges of which the ends of a blotting- strip c are clamped and the roller is rotatably mounted in a forked operating-handle, the halves of the roller are clamped together by means of coil springs o which are pivoted to the ends of one half at n and adapted to be hooked to screws s on the other half. One half of the roller may be provided with sleeves p adapted to receive the ends of the forked wire handle, the ends being sprung into position and retained by sliding over the shank of the handle a bored hand-grip. The roller is provided with a felt support b.
