[Class 131] A roller on which the hair is wound is rotatably and removably attached to a hinged clip so that a turn of hair can be wound on the roller, the clip closed and turned to wind in the ends of the hair and the whole then turned to wind the hair thereon. In the arrangement shown the roller A engages with and turns on a split pin B on a head V carrying the pivoted semi-cylindrical blade C. The blade C is formed with a piece T having two flat surfaces on which bears a spring D in the head so as to hold the blade in either the open or the closed position. The blade C is formed with recesses H to prevent the hair moving along the roller. The use of this form and a form with a smaller recess for a thin tress are described in detail. In a modification, the roller A is threaded internally and runs on a screwed rod secured to the head V so that the hair is wound helically. A small brush may be pivoted to the blade C to brush the hair as it is wound.
