[Class 44.] A clamp comprises a clamp head 1 which may have an extension 2 for carrying an instrument &c., and a leg 3 projecting from the head carrying a sliding member. This member consists of an arm 4, which may be rigid or springy, and a cam 5 pivoted in an extension 6 of the arm and bearing against the leg. On turning the cam by means of the handle 8, the arm 4 is tilted towards the clamp head to grip the object and the sliding member is frictionally jammed on the leg.
