Abstract

209,374. Venning, G. V., and Counsell, E. P. Aug. 27, 1923. Ruling devices.-in an instrument in which a holder for a brush or pen is pivoted to a support the. lower end of which is drawn along the paper in contact with the edge of a ruler &c., the support consists of a spring strip E formed with a loop at its lower end and secured to the lower end of an arm C so that by varying the pressure applied by the hand to the, instrument the spring is more or less flexed and the thickness of the line drawn is thereby adjusted. The arm C is formed with a projection D adapted to abut against the handle of the brush &c. in the closed or operative position of the instrument. The holder L is made pear-shape in plan so as firmly to hold handles of widely varying diameters.
