Abstract

364,364. Opening cotton &c. TAYLOR, LANG, & CO., Ltd., Castle Iron Works, and PASHLEY, J., 20, Warrington Street, both in Stalybridge, Cheshire. Jan. 26, 1931, No. 2486. [Class 120 (i).] In cotton or like opening machines the cotton is fed to the beater g over the full width of the beater by gravity assisted by an air flow admitted to the cotton and without the use of rollers or other feed devices which squeeze the cotton, so that it is presented to the beater in an open condition. The cotton entering the machine at a is collected on a suction cage b removed therefrom by a revolving stripper c and delivered into the downwardly-inclined passage d which is the full width of the beater cylinder e. An air current through the branch f assists the conveyance of the cotton.
