Abstract

249,196. Moore, T. D. Dec. 17, 1924. Breaking and scutching apparatus; cleaners &c. - In a machine for cleaning flax or other fibres, the material is fed through a hopper 2 into a casing 1 and falls onto a series of rollers 4 provided with blades, spikes, or card clothing. The rollers are situated above an inclined or horizontal grid 3 which may be vibrated by suitable means. A fan 7 is arranged to blow the fibres towards the canopy 1<a> whence they are taken by suction along a conduit 9 to collecting receptacles 11. A fan 10 may be arranged in the conduit. The fan 7 is enclosed in a casing 8 to direct the draught therefrom in a suitable direction. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2093/96, 10609/09, and 101,352.
