Abstract

290,005. Greenhalgh, R., and Greenhalgh, J. March 19, 1927. Openers, cleaners &c. - In a machine of the kind described in Specifications 916/15, 7137/15, 200,717, and 217,476, for cleaning and opening cotton waste or the like, the fibre acted on by the licker-in is blown by a contrivance extending across the full width of the licker-in and projected into a conveying shoot leading to dust cages or to a compartment or other connected machine. A fan e, Fig. 1, is arranged in a casing d having an opening extending across the licker-in c. The blades of the fan just clear the teeth of the lickerin or may exert a stripping action. The casing d is combined with the shoot f. A fan h operates in connection with the cage g, and the shoot may be provided with vertical partitions. The fan e may be located at the side of the machine and the air blast be delivered through a duct to a series of closely pitched nozzles or to a conduit with a slit extending across the licker-in.
