Abstract
362,084. Diaphragm valves. SAUNDFRS INVENTIONS, Ltd. and SAUNDERS, P. K., 530, Cecil Chambers, Strand, London. Oct. 11, 1930, Nos. 30473 and 36427. Addition to 321,892, [Class 135, Valves &c.]. [Class 135.] In a diaphragm valve according to the parent Specification the valve member proper consists of a n imperforate diaphragm 5, Figs. 1 and 6, and means are provided for opening the valve independently of the pressure of the controlled fluid. The said means mav consist of a sucker arrangement in the form of a second or upper diaphragm 25, Fig. 6, or a piston, operated bv the screwed spindle 9 ; alternatively the valve member can be lifted positively by engaging the actuating member with a projection 15. Fig. 1, moulded on the back of the diaphragm, or with a screwed pin moulded thereto. The valve member 5 is moulded dome-shaped so as to bias the valve to the closed or fully open position. When a second diaphragm is used a spiral spring 26, Fig. 7, normally of dome shape, may be used to bias the second diaphragm away from the valve proper, the spring being disposed between the two diaphragms or embedded in the second diaphragm.
