Abstract
360,936. Spray--carburetters. STRUYCKEN DE ROYSANCOUR, O. G. J., 38, Wilhelminasingel, Breda, Holland. July 11, 1930, No. 21084. Convention date, July 12, 1929. [Class 7 (iii).] A constant proportion of fuel to air at all engine speeds, and without the use of any moving parts, is obtained by the employment of a simple unobstructed orifice disposed substantially at fuel level and formed in a wall or diaphragm separating a relatively .large fuel chamber from the mixing chamber, the edge of the orifice being very thin in order to diminish the resistance to fuel flow therethrough. The fuel chamber 3, Fig. 2, communicates with a float chamber 1 through a passage 6, and with the mixing chamber 4 through the thin-edged orifice 12 formed by a conical depression 12b in the lower surface of the dividing wall. A cover 13 is held in place by a bolt 17 by rotating the head 16 of which the float chamber may be drained through clearance 18 and a groove 19 before removing the cover. In a modified construction, Fig. 4, the orifice 25 is formed in a removable diaphragm 21 screwed into the carburetter casing. Fuel enters the float chamber through a pipe 8, and a part 26 which may be adjusted to vary the fuel level. In both forms, the fuel in the chamber 3 is substantially at rest.
