Abstract

360,739. Parachute a p p a r a t u s . LUNDHOLM AKTIEBOLAG, C. H., 4, Vastra. Trõdgardsgatan, Stockholm.-(Assignees of Lundholm, C. H.; 4, Võstra Trõdgardsgatan, Stockholm.) Jan. 7, 1931, No. 633. Convention date, Jan. 21, 1930. [Class 4.] The closing flap of a parachute pack is formed as a pocket in which the static line is packed, the pocket having tensioning means for maintaining the line in regular packed order therein and preventing it from being unintentionally withdrawn. Alternatively the line may be arranged on the flap and maintained in position by tensioning devices. A pack is shown closed by two flaps 20, 20<1> connected to a separate closing plate 23 as described in Specification 360,061, the flap 20<1> being released from the plate by a manually actuated cable 28, and the flap 20 released by a static cord 31. The flap 20 has two walls forming a pocket, the upper wall having an opening 5, through which the cord 31 is passed, closed by a piece of fabric and a rupturable cord. Alternatively stiff material such as card or metal may be used which can easily be pulled out by the cord when jump is made. The open edge of the pocket may be closed in any manner after the cord has been placed in position.' Springs or elastic cords 3, which serve to roll up the flaps when released, keep the cord 31 in its regular coiled up position. The end of the cord 31 has wires passed through flexible tubes 6, stitched on the top of the pocket, for engaging the fastening means 24 of the flap so as to release the flap when the cord is all pulled out of the pocket. A lappet 4 covers the fastening members. The automatically releasable flap of the parachute described in Specification 360,061 may be formed as a pocket to contain the static line.
