Abstract
539,762. Parachute packs. QUILTER, J. R. C., and GREGORY, J. July 30, 1940, No. 12334. [Class 4] A flying suit having its back portion arranged to contain a parachute covered by closure flaps c, c' normally held in closed position below the waist line by the rip cord pins, as described in Specification 525,118, is provided with an internal strap f secured at its upper end to the inner portion of the main garment, the edges of the upper portions of the closure flaps being connected to this strap by press studs g, h. Additional studs g<1>, h<1> are provided near the neck of the garment which has an inflatable pillow member i as described in Specification 455,336, [Group VII]. The strap f is bent upwards at j and its end is secured to the back of the garment so as to prevent the folded parachute b from rising. Two smaller flaps d, d' on the back of the flaps c, c<1> house a pilot parachute which is released by the rip cord at the same time as the main parachute. The upper parts of the flaps are opened to facilitate packing of the parachute but remain closed when the parachute is released.
