Abstract
580,029. Parachute packs. IRVIN, L. L. Oct. 28, 1944, No. 21055. [Class 4] A parachute pack having main closure flaps and separate compartments for the main and pilot parachute canopies is characterised in that the compartment for the pilot parachute is formed by a flap adapted to be folded into tubular form, one edge of said flap being secured to one of the main closure flaps and the other edge releasably secured to the pack by means which are adapted to be freed by the operation of releasing the main closure flaps. In the form illustrated the flap 11 which forms the compartment for the pilot parachute is secured along one edge to the main closure flap 2, its other edge carrying cones 13 which engage eyelets 8, 10, at the edges of the main flaps 2, 3. The cones may be covered by canvas strips 20, 22, secured-to the flap 3, their free edges being connected by a sliding clasp fastener.
