Abstract
1,145,593. Parachute packs. G. Q. PARACHUTE CO. Ltd. 29 Dec., 1967 [21 Jan., 1967], No. 3257/67. Heading B7G. A parachute comprising a plurality of (e.g. three) canopies deployed side by side is carried in a pack comprising a bag 11 divided (e.g. as shown in Fig. 1 by an inverted V-section division 12) into compartments 13, 14, 15 so that each canopy is housed in a separate compartment. Each canopy 26 may be packed in a separate sleeve 25, of which the open end is folded back and held closed by passing rigging lines 30 through loops 28 extending through the ends of the sleeve walls, the canopy having a frangible anchorage 40 to a loop 24. Each sleeve 25 is then slid into one of the compartments 13, 14, 15 and the loops 24 are passed through a hole 23 in the bag 11 and are then attached with a bridle 21 on the bag to a static line. The bag 11 is closed by folding over the open end so that the loops 18 pass through the holes 19 and are held there by the rigging lines 30, in the manner shown in Fig. 3. The loaded bag 11 may be carried in an outer bag (32), Figs. 4 and 5 (not 'shown), on a parachutist's back.
