[Class 110 (iii).] In a compound turbine the lowpressure part 6 is of the radial flow, oppositely - running rotor type and the high - pressure part or parts consist of radial flow turbines 7, 11 which are arranged in separate casings and may be mounted on the ends of the oppositely rotating shafts so that the end-thrust is balanced. The driven electric generators 5, 10, are arranged between the turbines as shown. The high - pressure turbines may be in parallel.
