360,480. Furnace grates. LOMSAKOV, A., 597, Buckova Cis., Bubenec, Prague, and DMITREVSKY, P., 585, Prazske Predmesti, Kralove, Hradec, both in Czecho- Slovakia. Aug. 7, 1930, No. 23719. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1929. [Class 51 (i).] In a furnace grate of the kind comprising deep plates the sides of the plates are provided with ribs or projections which constitute with the sides of adjacent plates a series of separate upwardly directed passages for the combustion air. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the plates 5 are provided with ribs 7 and tapered hollow projections 6 the smaller ends of which enter the projections of adjacent plates. Air entering beneath the grate through the conduit 1 passes upwardly between the plates to the fuel bed and through the space 8 and hollow projections 6 to the outlet controlled by a damper 10 to cool the grate members. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the plates are provided with vertical ribs having projections 11, 12. The passages between the ribs vary in cross section.
