Abstract
359,697. Water-cooling systems for oil engines. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. Oct. 15, 1930, No. 30847. Convention date, Aug. 28. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii).] In a cooling system for an oil engine means are provided by which the flow of cooling medium around the fuel-injection valve may be determined. A discharge pipe 17 from a cooling chamber 7 which surrounds a liquid fuel injection valve 5 delivers into a trough 18 where the flow of liquid through the chamber may be observed. The cooling medium may be supplied from cooling chambers in the cylinder or its head, or in the cross-head guide. As shown in the Figure, the medium circulates through the cylinder 12 and traverses a pipe 13 to the head 14 in which is a delivery pipe 15. From the head some of the cooling medium passes by a pipe 19 to the injection valve 5.
