[Class 43.] In buckles or bucklelike slides for use with a strip of elastic or non- elastic webbing 9, leather, rubber or like material, the slide 1 consists of a single piece of metal, celluloid, or other material having at least three slots 2, 3, 4, and bent substantially double or U-shaped, thus providing bars 5..8 so disposed that the webbing 9 is bent round the bars 6, 7, and gripped frictionally thereby when tensioned. The webbing 9 may be attached at one end of the slide and passed through it to form an adjustable loop 10, as in hose suspenders. The webbing may be attached to the bar 8 by a stitched loop 12, or by swedging, in which case the material punched out to form the slot 4 may be used for securing the webbing. After forming the loop 10, the webbing may be passed under the bar 5, through the slot 2 crossing from front to back through the slots 3, 4, and bent substantially at right-angles round edges 6a, 7a of the bars 6, 7. When under tension the slide is held by frictional engagement at these edges. The bar 5 may be offset slightly in relation to the bar 6. Where the slide is used for hose suspenders, the loop 10 carries a suspender fitting 11.
