This invention relates to hose supporters,
shown, for purposes of illustration, one form v which my invention may assume, and in these drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of an embodiment of the invention, showing the guard member in inoperative position,
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the embodiment shown in Figure 1,
Figure 3 is a front elevational view of the embodiment shown in Figure 1, with the guard member in operative position,
Figure 4 is a rear elevation of the embodiment shown in Figure 3, while Figure 5 is a transverse sectional view cor 2O responding to the line 5-5 of Figure 4.
In the embodiment shown, the supporter comprises a strap 10 of elastic material, the upper end of which may be secured to a suitable part of the clothing of the wearer, and
the lower end looped as at 11, and secured to a clamp 12 of well known construction, having a toothed 13, adapted to engage a portion 14 of the strap passing through the slot 15 of the clamp. The looped portion 11 of the strap 10 carries a metal slide 16,
pivotally connected to a keyhole clasp member 17 by a connector 18, carrying the looped portion 19 of the clasp member 20, the latter having a button 21, adapted to be inserted into the keyhole clasp member 17 Secured to the strap 10 is a guard member 22 comprising elongated strips of material, sewed together as at 23, having a pocket 24, enclosing a stifiening stay 25, as of bone, the
latter terminating short of one end of the guard member to provide a flexible extension 26, having a rolled or hemmed edge 27, adapted to be inserted through the slot 15 from the upper side of the clamp 12, and secured by the toothed jaw 13 of the clamp 12, the extension 26 being curled over the clamp 12 so as to dispose the guard member 22 in position to overlie the clamp 12 and the clasp members 17 and 20, with the stay 25 in line with the button 21, and the remaining portions of the guard member 22 overlying all of the metal parts of the clamp 12 and clasp members 17 and 20. Attached to the guard member 22 is a fastener strip 28 of flexible material having one end secured to the guard member 22" as at 29, extending laterally across the guard member 22, having a snap fastener stud 30 at its free end adapted to snap into the socket fastener 31, secured tofian adjacent-edge of the guard member 22,the fastener strip 28" when in operative position, loosely encircling a portion of the supporter to hold the guard member 22 in place, while permitting relative movement of the latter, with respect to the guard member 22.
As will be seen from the above description, the guard member 22 is secured to the supporter 10 by the clamp member 12, and in such manner as not to interfere with adjustment of the length of said supporter through" the usual manipulation of the clamp 12. After the button 21 of the clasp member 20 has been inserted into the keyhole clasp member 17, with a portion of the hose of the wearer therebetween, the guard member 22 may be secured in overlying relation with respect to the clamp 12 and the clasp members 17 and 20, by encircling the supporter 10 with the fastener strip 28, and securing the snap fasteners 30 and 31 in position, disposing the guard member 22 to prevent contact with the metal parts of the supporter, particular advantage resulting from the presence of the stiffening stay 25, especially in its function of, spanning all metal parts of the supporter," thus presenting an unbroken surface at the outer face of the guard member 22.
From the foregoing description it will be obvious to those skilled in the art that the embodiment of my invention herein shown and described accomplishes at least the principal object of the invention. At the same time it also will be apparent that the particular embodiment referred to may be put to other uses, and may be variously changed and modified, all without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing the advantages thereof; accordingly it will be understood that the disclosure herein is illustrative only,-
and that my invention is not limited thereto.
I claim:
1. A supporter comprising an elastic strap having a clasp adjacent one end, a guard piece secured to said strap and in operative position overlying said clasp, and a fastener secured to said guard piece and slidably encircling said strap, and permitting relative sliding of said strap with respect to said guard piece.
2. A supporter comprising an elastic strap having an adjusting clamp thereon, a clasp adjacent one end, a guard piece secured to said strap by said clamp, and in operative position overlying said clamp and clasp, and a fastener secured to said guard piece and slidably encircling said strap, and permitting relative sliding of said strap with respect to said guard piece.
3. A supporter comprising a strap having a clamp thereon, a clasp adjacent one end, a guard piece having stiffening means incorporated therewith, secured to said strap and in operative position overlying said clamp and clasp, and a fastener secured to said guard piece and slidably encircling said strap, and permitting relative sliding of said strap with respect to said guard piece.
In testimony whereof I signature.
MYRTLE M. KAPITZKY.
