Abstract

355,618. Locks. KAYE, K. W., KAYE, J. V., and COOPER, S., Lock Works, Hunslet, Leeds. Dec. 11, 1930, No. 37373. [Class 44.] In a lock of the kind described in Specification 16454/14, [Class 44, Fastenings, Lock, &c.], in which a master key and a servants' key operate independent runner-plates which actuate the spring bolt B, the runnerplates C, C<1> are parallel and the movement of either plate is communicated to the bolt B through a single three-armed lever L pivoted at L<1> and pressed downwardly by a spring S. The arm L2 of the lever L is curved so as not to obstruct the handle lever H and, at its upper end, abuts on one side against a projection B<1> on the bolt and on the other side against a projection on the lever H. To ensure easy and silent operation the abutting parts are curved and faced with ebonite or vulcanite V. The arms L<3>, L<4> of the lever L are adapted for engagement by nose-pieces C<2>, C<3> on the runner-plates, the latter co-operating with sets of gated levers O, O<1> and being moved in opposite directions by the master and servants' keys respectively. The striking plate E is faced at V<1> with ebonite or vulcanite.
