353,556. Valve-actuating mechanism. DEWRANCE, SIR J., 165, Gt. Dover Street, Southwark, London. May 7, 1930, No. 14067. [Class 135.] In screw-actuating mechanism for parallel slide stop valves wherein the valve spindle e is operated by a rotary non-reciprocating hand-wheel nut f mounted in a bridge member c, the thrust between the nut and the bridge is arranged to be taken by a ball thrust bearing which takes the axial thrust in both directions. The bearing is held between a shoulder n in the bridge and a screwed retaining ring o. The axial thrusts are taken by a shoulder p on the nut sleeve f and a sleeve q screwed to the nut sleeve and secured by a grub screw r.
