Abstract

375,008. Valve accessories. SPARKHALL, J. G., 435, Strand, London. April 16, 1931, No. 11260. [Class 135.] Rotating and grinding valves on seats.-A spring-loaded lift valve is provided with means for rotating the valve on its seat adapted to be operated by means outside the casing. The valve 7 which co-operates with a seat 5 screwed into the casing is secured by a split pin 8 to a spindle 9. The valve is loaded by a spring 12 arranged between an abutment 11 resting on a shoulder 10 on the spindle 9 and a similar abutment 13 bearing against an adjustable sleeve 15 secured by a lock-nut 16. A spindle 19 having a screw-driver slot 18 adapted to be moved into engagement with a projection 17 on the spindle 9 is rotatably mounted in the sleeve 15. The spindle 19 passes to the outside of the casing through a stuffing-box 20 where it is fitted with a manipulating handle 21. The spindle 19 is normally held out of engagement by means of a spring 24 arranged between the casing and a washer 25 resting against the handwheel 21.
