Abstract

352,456. Swivelling couplings. BEAKEY, J. J., 6, Bridge Street, Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. April 2, 1930, No. 10490. Convention date, May 6, 1929. [Class 38 (i).] A swivel coupling comprises two members 1, 2 rotatable with respect to each other and connected together by a pivot member about which turning movement is permitted and which takes the form of an insulating sleeve 9 carrying two concentrically disposed contacts 7, 10. Longitudinal movement is prevented by a washer 17 attached to the head of the bolt 7. The contacts 7, 10 are connected respectively to the sockets 3, 4. Contact is made with 7, 10 by rings 12, 13 fitted with spring plungers to ensure good contact and binding posts for the connection of leads. Part 1 is split longitudinally for the purpose of assembly and is provided with a protector for the leads.
