Abstract
351,089. Rafters and astragals. RAWSON, C. H. and CONCRETE GREENHOUSES, Ltd., Frieth Road, Marlow, Buckinghamshire. March 25, 1930. No. 9539. [Classes 20 (iii) and 20 (iv).] Glazed or like covered roofs are provided with stepped concrete rafters 10 with or without reinforcement 25 apertured for countersunk eye-bolts secured by square nuts 16 lying between adjacent overlapping sheets of glass &c. Extensions of the bolts and nuts 24 thereon secure capping strips 17 bearing on the edges of the sheets. The capping strips have tapered overlapping ends. The rafters may be curved and may have straight extensions built into the wall co-operating with sill blocks as described in Specification 349,695 and at their upper ends may be shaped to correspond with a ridge pole of the kind described in Specification 349,696. The end rafter may have a V-groove 39 for the end glass or like sheet one wall of which is vertical, Fig. 12. The upper and lower lapping edges of the sheets are preferably convex. The rafters may be spaced by bars of suitable length apertured to engage with the eyebolts.
