668,318. Prefabricated buildings; slab walls; slabs. ROBERTS, J. A. March 31, 1950. [May 30, 1949] No. 14504/49. Classes 20(i), 20(iv) and 87(i). A building is made of precast concrete units comprising (a) transverse frames consisting of integral post and beam portions 11, 12 respectively, and (b) side and end wall units (Fig. 9) built up in tiers and attached to the frames which are " narrowfaced," e.g. of T-section as described in Specification 594,875, the roof comprising sheet material supported by purlins, e.g. of precast concrete or angle iron, supported by the frame. The frames are arranged in pairs, except in the case of lean-to buildings, to form arches. The wall units have peripheral flanges 20 ... 23 (not shown) with holes 29, 31 to enable them to be bolted, as at 28, to the frames, which have corresponding holes 30, and to each other. Further, the wall units are tapered upwardly and overhang the one below, to which they are conveniently fitted by means of co-operating rebates and recesses 26, 27 respectively. Both the frames and the wall units are reinforced by wire, e.g. as at 18, 19.
