Abstract
350,144. Controllers. JAMES, H. V., Cintra, Watford Road, Radlett, Hertfordshire. April 17, 1930, No. 12224. [Class 38 (iii).] Actuating electromagnetically.-A controller for the motor of a printing-machine comprises a head H1 traversed to the left to cut-out armature resistance and a second head H2, which is traversed to the left to cut-in shunt-field resistance only after the head H1 has reached its limit. Separate motors M1, M2 having double armatures 5, 24 and 15, 25 as described in Specification 109,890, [Class 38 (iii), Electric motor control systems &c.], are used to drive each head. A master contactor for the main motor, when closed, closes an auxiliary contact 3 and opens contacts 4. Closure of button 1 causes motor M1 to drive its head H1 into the left-hand limit whereupon limit switch 9 is opened to stop the motor M1 but contacts 14 are bridged to cause the motor M2 to drive its head H2 into the left-hand limit whereupon limit switch 17 is opened to stop the motor M2. Closure of button 2 causes the motors to operate in the reverse direction and in the reverse order. Opening of the master contactor causes switches 4 to close with the result that both motors M1, M2 operate simultaneously to return the heads to the right-hand position.
