Controllers, with auxiliary switches. - In traction motor control, in order to prevent current from being turned on when the motors are not protected by the full starting resistance, and when the doors of a car are open, the driver's controller, otherwise of ordinary construction, is furnished with an additional finger 5 and a corresponding short segment in the first resistance position, whereby connection is temporarily made to an electromagnet 12 adapted to close a line switch 20 in series with the trolly 16. The operating circuit of the magnet 12 is taken through switches 14 so that it can only be completed when the doors of the cars are closed. After the controller has passed to the next resistance position, and providing time has been allowed for the electromagnet 12 to work, the magnet remains connected in a hold-on circuit by way of an auxiliary switch 25. A trip switch 13 is adapted to open the circuit when the direction of movement of the controller handle is reversed.
