Abstract
404,188. Master control of D.C. motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Webb, L. W. ; 712, Raspberry Street, Erie, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) May 2, 1933, No. 12771. Convention date, May 4, 1932. [Class 38 (iii).] Reversing.-A motor 10 driving a material carrying car is controlled from a remote station 12 by press-buttons 32, 33, a power rail 16 and a control rail 31 being energized in a selected order which determines the direction of rotation of the motor. Upon closure of a press button 32 a self-maintaining contactor 14 is closed to energize the power rail 16 and, after a time interval, a contactor 40 closes to energize the control rail 31. The energization of the power rail causes a contactor 23 to close to connect the motor field 20 for forward operation, and, when the control rail is energized, a contactor 11 closes to complete the motor circuit, one or more accelerating contactors 50 being thereafter closed in timed sequence. If the press-button 33, instead of 32, is closed, the control rail 31 is immediately energized, and the reverse contactor 24 and the contactor 11 close a contactor 54 closing a time interval later to energize the contactor 14 whereby the power rail is energized, and the motor runs in the reverse direction. A stop button 34, and a coil 21 controlling a brake, are provided.
