470,711. Control of A.C. and D.C. motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and BENNS, H. V. Feb. 21, 1936, No. 5288. [Class 38 (iii)] Dynamo-electric braking.-A motor is connected to its supply by operating a switch c1 to energize the coil a of a contactor A, the coil d1 of a magnetic induction time delay relay also being energized over contacts a2 of the contactor A to close contacts d3. When it is desired to stop the motor the switch cl is opened, the contactor A de-energized, and the coil b of the reverse contactor B energized over back contacts al of the contactor A and the contacts d3. When the contactor A opens contacts a3 are closed, and contacts a2 opened so that the coil dl of the time relay is de-energized and short-circuited. After a predetermined time this relay opens its contacts d3 and de-energizes the reverse contactor B, so that the motor is disconnected. Similar control in the reverse direction of rotation is effected by a switch c2 and a time relay el. The time relays are supplied through a bridge connected full wave rectifier F. The system is applicable to star-delta and auto-transformer starting arrangements. Specification 345,785 is referred to.
